HS2 route

HS2 route across Barnsley

HS2 route. A number of Barnsley Biodiversity Trust members raised concerns about the impact of the proposed route for High Speed Rail (HS2) across Barnsley. HS2 goes through Wombwell Wood, Carlton Marsh and Rabbit Ings and over Cold Hiendley reservoir, as well as affecting the local wildlife sites Black Lane and Sunny Bank wood.

Information on the route can be found at http://hs2.org.uk/phase-two/route-consultation/ – route section HSL16 Blackburn to Cold Hiendley.

Following discussion by BBT trustees and at the BBT open meeting on 27 January 2014 a response was sent as part of the HS2 consultation. It can be found via this link: BBT response to HS2 route consultation.
